Stockman FAQ

Trapper vs Stockman? Trapper is clip + spey. Stockman adds a sheepsfoot for controlled push cuts and detail work, and runs a bit thicker in the pocket.

Medium vs Large Stockman? Shop by the knife you want — Medium Stockman is the everyday three-blade frame for many buyers; Large is for more hand fill. See Medium Stockman.

New in box? Unless a product page says otherwise, knives ship new in the Case box.

How many blades does a stockman have? Three. A Case stockman carries a clip blade, a sheepfoot blade and a spey blade, so you've got a point, a straight edge and a rounded tip in one knife.

What kinds of stockman do you carry? Most of ours are Case medium stockmans, and we also carry large stockmans and sowbelly stockmans. The sowbelly has a bigger, rounded belly on the handle that fills your hand more.

What handle options do you carry in the stockman? We carry amber, chestnut, natural, antique, old red, navy blue, Mediterranean blue and Gator jig bright green bone, plus BoneStag, black curly oak wood, Dark Red Burlap Micarta, Seafoam G-10, Blue Pearl Kirinite, and navy, black, orange and red synthetic.

What blade steel do your stockmans use? Most are Case Tru-Sharp stainless, and each listing names its blade steel.

The Stockman earned its name on the farm and ranch, where it was made for tending livestock. It carries three blades: a clip for everyday cuts, a sheepfoot for detail and carving work, and a spey for longer cuts.
